As Featured on Spotify New Music Friday: "Shadows of the Trees" Moon Rise City [Official MV]

Shadows of the Trees by Moon Rise City ~ Official Music Video by Oolong Films
As featured on Spotify New Music Friday South Africa Playlist. Experimental Indie Fusion: A poetic Psychedelic Folk story guided by Downtempo/Trip-hop Electronic beats & a haunting nostalgia of the dream world.

‘Shadows of the Trees’ Official Music Video was shot in Vietnam at very interesting historical locations. Historical war site at Bo-Bo Pine Forrest, Unesco World Heritage area at Hoi An Ancient Town – in the same location as a scene from The Quiet American (2002) film & in the misty mountain tops of Ba Na Hills. As a Carl Jung fan, Singer-Songwriter Lauren Tracy explains that these historical sites are like the archetypes of a collective unconscious. She writes cryptic & soul provoking, poetic songs, which come to life through music collaboration with the talented – Indy Laville.

Filmed, directed & edited by Oolong Films.

Moon Rise City is fiercely independent – writing, performing & producing their music. ‘Shadows of the Trees’ will be followed by two more singles, before the release of their EP record ‘Relics of a Bygone’ in Summer 2020.

BIO

South African Singer-Songwriter, Lauren Tracy & French Musician, Indy Laville met from opposite sides of the world, in Vietnam. Moon Rise City was born by the Saigon night. A midnight society of collaboration between the two & other artists they draw into their music.

BEHIND THE LYRICS ~ Shadows of the Trees

During an awakening time of her life in Cape Town, Lauren Tracy recounts a poetic song that came to her in the middle of the night after experiencing sleep paralysis. She explores her fascination with the dream world & the dark depths of her unconscious mind. If you’ve ever experienced anything like it, this song is guaranteed to strike a chord for you too. Lauren explains that bringing this song to life is “a beautifully haunting nostalgia of my dream world, from an eye-opening time of my life.”
